Daniel Szomor

Double-bass

Daniel Szomor was born in Gyula, Hungary. First he played the cello in his young age. Later at the age of 19 he started to study double bass in Weiner Leó Conservatorium, Budapest with Prof. István Enreiter. In the same time he did electric bass guitar studies of pop and jazz music in Kőbányai Jazz Studio, Budapest.
In 2007 he moved to Switzerland to study in Académie de Musique Tibor Varga, Sion with Prof. Ferenc Bokány and later in Conservatoire de Lausanne under Prof.  Marc Antoine-Bonanomie.
In 2009 he won the “orchester-akademie” place for 2 years in Opernhaus Zürich where Dariusz Mizera was his Mentor. 
Currently he is studying in ZHdK with Prof Duncan McTier.
He is playing as replacement in different orchestras such as: Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Opernhaus Zürich. Since 2012 February he is a member of Kammerorchester Basel.
